jessica and jerry. married. edmonton photography. by Cheryl Lukasewich

These two. THESE TWO!!! I'm not sure I've ever photographed a couple that were so laid back yet so energetic and up for anything! It was chilly but Jessica and Jerry were so excited to have us start the day with photos in the gorgeous place that Jessica runs most mornings. What a gem hidden in our city!! She was also excited to do a few photos in the playground near her house where she "plays" (aka does pull-ups like a boss) after her workouts. This couple laughs LARGE and, from all the people there to support them on their wedding day, love even larger <3 Thank you, Jessica and Jerry, for inviting me into this incredible day in your lives. It was such an honor. You two are the reason I love my job so very much <3

Have a look at a few of my favorites from Jessica and Jerry's wedding day and, if you're looking for someone to capture YOUR love, shoot me an email via my contact form or at cheryl@aeris-photography.com!

angela and ken. married. destination wedding photography. by Cheryl Lukasewich

Ok. This one is a wee bit more personal than a lot of my previous weddings. A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to photograph my uncle as he married the love of his life, Angela. He has been waiting, patiently, for someone to share his life with and he found her. Amazing. Ken, my dad's youngest brother, has been close to my immediate family for as long as I can remember. Birthdays, holidays, random get-togethers - He's made it a priority to be with our family to celebrate so many things. Currently an audio-visual mastermind who writes, produces, lights and edits movies, tv shows, commercials and educational videos (the list goes on - check out his site here), Ken also used to work a bit more in photography. When I bought my first camera he was thrilled! He has encouraged me and challenged me. He even gave me my first paid gig before I had any clue what I was doing (I believe the image ended up on a billboard in Grande Prairie??)! So, yes, I was honored on many levels when he asked me to photograph such an incredible moment in his life. I flew out to Ontario (SO BEAUTIFUL!!) to a little town called Belleville and had an incredible time celebrating LOVE!

Ken, I love you. Angela, I love you, too. Welcome to our crazy family.

Have a peek at a few of my favorites from our time together and, if since you're here already, check out more of my work here. Shoot me an email if you're looking for someone to photograph YOUR love!

susy and chris. married. edmonton wedding photography. by Cheryl Lukasewich

Susy and Chris got married a few weeks ago and I had the awesome privilege of photographing their wedding. I photographed Susy's sister Amanda's wedding a few years back - this family has been so incredibly generous and thoughtful in hiring me and believing in me (I've photographed several of their friends, as well!). The day was absolutely gorgeous and the bridal party was a blast. I love my job <3 <3

Check out a few of my favorite shots from this incredible day. You can check out more of my weddings here, too. chelsa and ben. married. edmonton wedding photography. by Cheryl Lukasewich

What an amazing honour it is to be able to be with people on one of the most meaningful days of their lives to capture their love! Chelsa and Ben's wedding was so lovely, intimate and special. They had their ceremony and reception at the Union Bank Inn and had gorgeous details to compliment their day (Chelsa handmade the origami flowers in their ceremony floral arrangements!!). Check out a few of my favorite shots from our time together on that chilly April day! alora. my second shooter. my friend. by Cheryl Lukasewich

Back in 2011, my second year of business, I put out a plea on a local women photographer's forum looking for someone to second shoot with me at what was sure to be an incredible wedding (check it out here).  Up until this point my uncle, a math teacher and photography/yearbook instructor, had been shooting my (first few) weddings alongside me.  He made the bold and exciting decision to move his family to Nairobi, Kenya, and up till then I had no idea how to go about finding someone to shoot weddings with me.  So I put out my request.  I promptly got a message from Alora.  She sent me a link to view her portfolio (which was gorgeous) and I agreed she should come shoot with me.  Due to circumstances I can't recall, Alora and I weren't able to meet prior to the wedding so, on the morning of the wedding I was excited when I got a knock on my door.  Imagine my surprise when a teenager, 16 years old, stood there with gear in hand. And that's where it began.

I'm 10 years older than Alora but that doesn't matter in the least.  What began with my random request turned into a beautiful pairing and an incredible friendship.

A second shooter has many roles (at least when they're shooting with me).  They're there to catch different angles from my own, look for candid moments in between the organized shots, carry my gear, hold my light, fix the bride's train, carry the bouquet, look for crooked ties, help me stay organized, keep me calm, listen to my concerns and, in Alora's case, even help pull me together during a few tearful moments (shooting a wedding, though so incredibly joyous, can be a bit stressful at times).

Alora has done all that and more with me and for me.  But the girl has wings.  She's moving forward in her own business and pursuing her own dreams in her career and, as sad as it makes me to not always have her with me when I work, I'm also pretty thrilled.  Although she loves weddings and is so skilled at them her real passion lies with photographing couples in general as well creating gorgeous, ethereal portraits.

Alora has shot a lot of weddings with me and will be shooting a few with me this year as well (maybe I'll be able to snag her a few times in the next few years, too).  Regardless of how much we work together in the future I wanted to let the world know how much I love this girl and to send her lots of e-hugs.

Check out some shots I took recently of this awesome gal and then head over to her website, too, to check out her mad skills (maybe give her a "like" on her facebook page, too)!

things that rock my world. aeris albums. the most gorgeous display option in the world :) by Cheryl Lukasewich

I FINALLY had the chance to design and purchase a new sample album and I am BLOWN AWAY! Professional-grade albums are ridiculously beautiful. They're definitely pricier then something you can make on your own but ohhh, if you could just see it, you'd see why!!

This specific album is a 12x12 leather beauty with 25 pages.  Look at this gorgeous leather bound presentation box it came in!! 2013-09-13_0001.jpg 2013-09-13_0002.jpg

It comes with a care-instruction card. 2013-09-13_0003.jpg

I had chosen a while back to switch album companies due to some binding issues that I was unhappy with. Issue 100% resolved with this new company! Albums come with a blank black "buffer" page which prevents creasing due to no images being glued directly to the cover. 2013-09-13_0004.jpg

Check out these pages! The print quality is unreal and the center seam is almost invincible! 2013-09-13_0005.jpg 2013-09-13_0006.jpg 2013-09-13_0007.jpg 2013-09-13_0008.jpg

And finally, I am in LOVE with the stamping option for text on the cover! I've seen covers that are laser-engraved before but the stamped "look" is definitely a factor that drove me to this company

2013-09-13_0009.jpg

Love love love love.

That is all.
